Microsoft hammers No-IP, collateral damage includes Hacking Team’s legal malware


Microsoft brought the hammer down on No-IP and seized 22 of their domains. They also filed a civil case against Mohamed Benabdellah and Naser Al Mutairi, and a U.S. company, Vitalwerks Internet Solutions, LLC (doing business as No-IP.com), for their roles in creating, controlling, and assisting in infecting millions of computers with malicious software—harming Microsoft, its customers and the public at large.

Windows XP hacked post retirement


Microsoft has revealed a vulnerability of the Internet Explorer could allow remote code execution.  The software giant is aware of limited, targeted attacks that attempt to exploit a vulnerability in Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 8, Internet Explorer 9, Internet Explorer 10, and Internet Explorer 11.The vulnerability is a remote code execution. It exists in the way that Internet Explorer accesses an object in memory that has been deleted or has not been properly allocated.

Microsoft warns of security bug exploiting ‘preview email’ to hack PC


Microsoft has reportedly warned that previewing emails before hitting send could allow hackers gain control of a user’s PC. The software maker said that cyber criminals were actively exploiting a newly discovered Microsoft Word bug that could be exploited to gain remote access of a system.

Microsoft crash reports reveal Houdini hack campaign hitting firms


A new hack campaign using the Houdini malware has been uncovered by security firm Websense.Websense ‎director of security research Alex Watson told V3 the company spotted a campaign targeting an unnamed mobile network operator and government body using the Houdini remote access Trojan (RAT) while testing a new detection strategy. He said the strategy involves researchers cross-referencing Microsoft application and software crash reports to spot cyber attacks.

Microsoft Enters Pact in Fight Against Cybercrime


Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) has entered a pact with agencies in the Americas and Europe, as well as banking and payments technology provider FIS Inc. (FIS), in the fight against cybercrime.The software giant on Wednesday said the agreement, signed as memorandums of understanding, would work to pursue cybercrime criminals. Microsoft’s collaboration is with FIS, the Organization of American States–which has 35 member countries including the U.S., and the European Union’s law enforcement agency Europol.

Microsoft in more hacking misery


A Microsoft blog has been hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army shortly after two of its Twitter accounts and another blog were attacked by the same group.The Office blog had just been redesigned before it was targeted by the hackers who posted a screenshot of their work on their Twitter feed.Previous attacks were used to post pro-Syrian government messages and criticisms of the firm.
Microsoft has not yet commented on the latest attack.

Group of Syrian ‘Hacktivists’ Attack Microsoft for the Third Time this Month


The Syrian Electronic Army (SEA) hacked several government sites owned by Saudi Arabia. On its usual announcement after the hacking attack, the notorious group of hackers warned that it would continue launching attacks on cyberspace, especially against Microsoft Corp.the hackers have fulfilled their promise. For the third time this month, SEA has again hi-jacked a Website owned by the global software giant.

Microsoft Releases Xbox Live App for iPhone and iPad


Microsoft has announced the release of an official Xbox Live app for iPhone and iPad. This is the first time Microsoft has directly supported a competitor’s product with Xbox Live. Xbox Live hub on Windows Phone 7 features include Avatar’s outfit, update your friends list, edit your live profile and view or compare achievements. Windows Phone 7 still has a major advantage in that its games can actually integrate with Live.

Google, Oracle surpass Microsoft in vulnerabilities, study shows


Google has reported 82 vulnerabilities in Google Chrome, Oracle had the second most vulnerabilities, with 63 and Microsoft was third, with 58. Cyber criminals targeted major companies and institutions in over 60 countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan and the Ukraine. They started over 300 malware campaigns to access confidential data by taking control of affected computers.

Symantec cloud security to support Microsoft Lync


Symantec provides cloud-based security service to its latest instant messaging client called, Lync that can do anti-malware filtering and use security controls for blocking unsuitable content. Symantec senior product manager, Nick Emanuel has said that “Symantec cloud-based service does not require agent software or any kind of application on the customer premises.”
